I currently have a socket 478 and my processor is
Model : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
Codename : Northwood
Technology : 0.13µ
Microcode : MU0F2401E
(and it's a dell). What is the best processor I can buy for this socket? or motherboard?

Motherboard
Product : D845EPT2

As you can see, I know little about computers. I just need to know the best processor I can buy while keeping my motherboard.

sockte 478, this is owhere near the best you can get. you can get up to a 3.4ghz EE p4, or anywhere between yours and that. lots of options, check newegg
