Default how do i get a video studio or editor for a cam recorder?

i have a cannon zr100 and it only comes with a dv cable and it has dv tape. my friend has a camera with a usb but i do not so we can just trade tapes. where can i get a video editor or a way to get my cannon to plug into the computer to edit my footage?

I have the zr200. You need to have a firewire (also called IEEE 1394) card in the back of your computer, and a cable to plug into it. Once you have that, asuming you have Windows XP, you can use Windows Movie Maker to capture the video to your computer.

yea i have that card but i dont have the cable do u know what i can get one i havea jvc mini dv cam i need the cable that goes from dv to firewire

Any tech store will have it, like RadioShack. Its not more than a couple bucks.
