another outlook express question

i just got my gmail account running on outlook express 6 and i tried looking in the settings so it can remember my password but couldnt how can i make so i can? also it opens the windows messenger and i dont want it to how can i turn that off? i found something in the options but it didnt shut it off. also do the emails now take up space on my hd because i use outlook express? or do the files take up the space on the gmail server.
