Card reader problems

Not sure where to post this butas its due to data storage I will put it on here.

Ok basicaly my problem is the card reader on my PC has stopped working. I plug it in and the card does not register with the computer anymore. This could be one of two problems I think. Either the softwear that detects new devices has stopped working correctly, OR The card reader itself has died. I know the card is still good as it works in the digital camera still.

I am using compact flash card,, so any advice on what to do and if you think its the card reader thats died would be very appretiated thanks
