Default 3D modeling and animation programs

What 3D modeling and animation programs are out there? I'm doing a mod/expansion for a game, and need something that will let me do modeling and and import the model into a game. I've found www.caligari.com/gamespace/, but it's 200 bucks. Another problem with caligari is that I don't think the format will allow me to import the models into the game I'm modding.

I'm experienced in both modeling and texturing. My budget is, at the most, 200 bucks.

maya is good but confusing for anything like charecter or creature creation, or even trees and stuff. you could get torque i think its called but its real expensive (to me) i think like 300 bucks USD. and theirs another program called view d'azur or view 5 i dont remember but its real good, you can do a google search and find out what it is, its easy to use and makes some nice landscapes

I used to use Rhino 3D (in the late '90s the student edition was about $450...) ..I'm sure there are much better products, but I loved using Rhino 3D to create different sports arenas, ball parks and other buildings when I was younger...

Maya is expensive a lot, and u cant learn it by trial and error, so u should begin with software that u r able to cope with Rhino 3D that SFR talked about
