Mce 2005?

I have been hearing that MCE will not work on ever pc. I am thinking about upgrading to it but im not sure what i will need such as Graphics, tv cards etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction for these as i need brand new everything because of a surge that fried EVERYTHING. I have atleast £100 for graphics and £60 for a tv card. Thanx!
