Second Hard-Drive Installation Problems

'ello chaps,
iv run into a bit of a pickle heres my problem:

Well just got m new custom built computer (which is great),
but i wanted to install my old computers hard drive as a secondary drive in my new computer,
problem is my new computers HD is SATA where as my old HD is IDE
what can i do?

As above my responses at this point must be taken with a grain of salt, I'm still learnin'.

But I am almost 100% sure there is no problem, as long as your computer has an open IDE slot. Which I think it probably should, my comp. has 4 SATA slots, and 4 IDE slots... You should probably have both.

if you have an ide anything, like cd or hard drive, all it takes is changing a few jumpers on the drives to make one a slave and one a master, if you have a two drive cable.

Exactly right, IDE hard drives and SATA hard drives will work fine together. You'll just need to jumper the IDE drive correctly to avoid conflicts with your optical drives, and most importantly set the SATA drive as your primary boot device in your BIOS.

Shouoldnt be a problem: find a spot for the SATA drive and plug it in. If you dont have any SATA spots, you can buy a SATA controller for not all that much
