Default CS:S question

I have a CS:S cd key but no cd. when i go to "activate a product" on steam i put the cd key in then it asks me to insert the cd/dvd into the drive. I heard there was a way of binding cd-keys to accounts and I was wondering how this would work? I also heard that you can download the game, but how? CS:S doesn't show up in my games list.

Any input is appriciated. thanks.

Once you "bind" a cd-key to an account you can never ever bind it to another account, for obvious reasons *cough* theft *cough*. Once you have assigned a cd-key to an account you can then download the necessary files via Steam. But to assign a cd-key you have to install CSS on the computer you're binding the cd-key to the account from, the first time.
