Ok I'm having trouble with a dell. it worked fine last time I used it but then it was put away for about a year because I have a pc and my gf moved in and she had the dell but we only need 1 pc. Now I'm kinda upgrading the pc i built at school and I decided to see if i can get any parts from the dell since it's just sitting there. Well after opening it i was amazed a little and changed my mind about upgrading the pc i got from school but rather upgrade the dell. I wanted to see how fast the CPU was so i took took this metal thing of it but it came off with the chip. Odd? well that's what I thought. So i put it back in and closed the dell and plug it in. It look like just about everything works but It's not booting. When I took the metal thing off the Chip the second time it didn't come off with the chip. I had at move this latch/lever thing to get it off. So is there any way to figure out if the cpu and motherboard are fine? if they are not how do i figure out what kind of dell it is so I can get a barebone? I know the 80 GB hard drive is fine and the 2x512MB DDR Ram is fine but That's all i know about the computer since it's not mine and my gf knows nothing about what's inside a computer
