2 RAM sticks of different memory each?

One thing I don't understand is can you have two memory sticks at different speeds working together in the computer? For instance, lets say my computer has 3 RAM slots, and I have a 1GB stick and a 516GB stick, can I put them together??

btw, 1gb and 512mb are not speeds, they are capacities.

i think they can work together...my friend has a 512 and a 256 ddr and his is pretty fast faster than my friend with a 512 only

yes they will work together. check out my sig.......1 stick of 512 and 1 stick of 256.

They will work fine together, but one thing that's for sure is that dual channel will not work

Are you talking about speeds or capacities? Different capacities will work fine, and different speeds will run at the lower speed.
