Default Buying a new modem

Hi,

I am buying a new modem and am wondering if this is a reliable enough model. I currently use a modem that connects the same as a dialup would, but still get same speeds. I am absulutely annoyed with the trouble i have with it hehe, so i want your opinion on this modem, remembering that i dont have a very high budget.

I also found this paragraph on the modem's description...

"Two computers can simultaneously connect to the DSL-302G through its USB and Ethernet port to share its high-speed Internet connection. You can connect to its Ethernet port regardless of the operating system you are using, or connect to its USB port to allow easy installation to a USB equipped computer running 98SE, Me, 2K, XP, or Mac OS 9 and OS X."

Does this mean that i can connect computer 1 with the USB and computer 2 with the ethernet?

Also, would this one be much better.....

Thanking-you,

To get anything faster than dialup, you must have something other than dialup. So unless you have DSL, you'll just be wasting your money. I'll go on an answer your other questions, just remember that, ok?

The first link was a DSL modem. I beleive you can only use one connection or the other, but I could be wrong. Dlink usally has manuals on their site, why don't you skim over one for the modem?

The 2nd link appears to be a router. You will still need a modem in order to connect to the internet. Now some routers do have modems built in, but glancing at that one, it doesn't appear to. Once again, you might wish to skim over the manual.

I do have a DSL connection, and it shows and acts like a dialup connection, thus why i want a new modem. My ISP who sent the modem with my connection, said that it does this because...

"This is what people are used of".
In saying that, the first modem i mentioned would be alright to use and reliable?

Thanks,
