My first computer build went good, except i placed the little stands that hold the motherboard off of the back panel or w/e it is in the case. Doing this could short out ur motherboard, lucky i had my uncle look it over before i tryed starting it and he caught it =P.

If you're working on the monitor or powersupply (which i suggest you do NOT do) you NEVER use an anti-static wriststrap. For the PC itself you're fine, but PSU or monitor don't use it. It can actually kill you and work backwards of what it's supposd to do.

yeah I dont mess with monitors or TVs I have messed with a power supply but I know what to look out for. I like to take the fans out of broken PSUs and make it so i can plug them into a wall outlet.

yea the static charge is definitely not mythical we can all agree on that (haha red vs. blue - lopez) but ive never used the armband, i dont even know where to get one. ive built i think... 5 computers? and basically, just dont walk on a rug, keep touching the computer case, and dont wear socks and you should be fine.

the hardest part is cooling the cpu, but as long as youre using the simple stock hsf u should be fine. remember... MOBO IN THE CASE BEFORE U PUT THE COMPONENTS ON IT... haha dont laugh at me i did that the first time because i had to RMA my case... lol ok i guess its kind of funny... but it worked... however poorly!

Yuep, also never plug the PSU in when plugging in everything. Ive done that once, and i will never do it again. The metal contacts on the 4 pin molex cable somehow was stinking out some, and it shocked the hell out of my finger, it ran up my arm, and out my feet, to my psp case. After then i have been having headaches all the time.

haha does that count hacking a monitor picture tube up with an axe? I knew not to mess with the transistors and crap on the circuit board, tho.
