Default need help with nvidia geforce fx go5200, its not being detected

so i'll explain exactly what the problem is...

I decided to reinstall my dell inspiron 8600 back to its factory setting. When I did the display driver was changed to vga. i put in my dell driver cd to download the nvidia driver for my hardware, but the hardware was not detected. i restarted my computer and went into the bios to make sure the hardware was still nvidia. the video controller said it was a nvidia geforce fx go5200. so the hardware is nvidia but it is not detected. what can i do to have it be detected? right now the display format is "default monitor" with a vga adapter, not nvidia. the display is poor quality and everytime i scroll it makes a little ripple effect. please help. any help would be much appreciated.
