Default wireless internet question

I'm currently using wireless internet @ home.
But I do not know anything about wireless internet.
anways, about 5 people share this wireless internet.
I want it to be more faster. I also want to share files online.
Owner of the house has the router. I don't have a router.
If I buy myself a router, will it be faster???

do the owner of the house know that your using it also? i hope so.

and no, if you buy a router, i dont think that will help because you will have have the be the one providing the connection. i believe, so dont hold me to that. its sharing, so you can expect lags. if you want fast, you have to buy urself a connection.

To have your own IP address on the Internet you would have to get another Internet connection.

The speed of your Internet on your machine is most likely limited to the Internet connection speed/the number of people connected to the network, not the network speed. Yoiu won't be getting the full speed of the internet connection because it's being shared out between everyone on your network. To get faster Internet you'll need to upgrade your connection.

Buying a new router would only makie it faster if your currently getting a low signal, if you have a strong signal then a router wont do anthing. And check to make sure that your computer and the router can support 802.11g, if it can then make sure you have an 802.11g wireless card.
