Help! Reappearing Icons on my my Monitor

I can't figure out what I did to have all these extra icons on my monitor. I tried to delete them but only to have have others take there place. I can remove them from my monitor (desk top?) but when I reset my computer or leave it alone for a while and come back to it , new icons reappear. They vary in content .dat, .jar, draw ,.xcu , .xcs, .mod, .dtd just to name a few.

cCan anyone help?

Yes, I did install new programs. I tried uninstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling them but still have the same problem.

are their any particular names it is named? or are those the names?
