It's very good, i had it before and i wish i didnt sell it. I find it to be a much better improvement over integrated if your using headphones, since this supports CMSS-3D.

if you're interested in only headphones i've heard that something as cheap as the av 710 is better in performance than any sound blaster card, x-fi included. (assuming you're listening to music only.. sound blasters are definitely better for any music or games) i don't see how, but headphone audiophile i've heard from who uses their computer-as-source swear by this.

the av 710 is only $25 at newegg. (it was, i can't find it now)

one of the best options, though, is the emu 0404. i think it's around $100, and it's supposed to be fantastic ..

just letting you guys know that as much to my surprise as probably your's, even the x-fi doesn't compare to the cards listed above. although i can't tell you from experience, everyone i've ever talked to about it agrees upon it.

again, this is assuming you're only listening to music. movies/games are a different story.

I have that card and it is great, i wish i would've went to the platinum though. But for the price I'd say it is awesome. Check out newegg.com, they usually have that card cheaper than other places.
