Default Always wondered..

Hey, I have always wondered i presume the answer to this is yes...

Does having icons on your desktop slow your pc down? especially on start up?

What you think?

having desktop icons doesnt slow your computer down, but having programs run at startup does.

The answer is no.

Have a lot of processes running in the background will slow down your pc.

Edit: which is exactly what you just wrote Geoff... (still vote no on the moderator thing though )

i got told years ago (when i knew absolutely nothing about pc's) that each icon on your desktop increased the loading time by 4-5seconds, by someone who claimed to be an expert at pc's
