Default Should bios updating cost anything?

Hello, I have aida(everest) installed on my pc and it tells me my bios needs updating. It gives me a link which directs me to a phoenix technologies site. This site then directs me to a site to pay for a bios update. Is this normal considering the laptop I have is a bundled package that never had an os disc when I bought it.

Yes a lot of people are charging nowadays for their "support", and it may come in handy if the manufacturer went out of business or you dont know what your model number is. But it you go to the manufacturer's site of your laptop, they should have the correct bios for free.
