So I was putting in a second stick of Kingston 512MB DDR400 in my computer to accompany my Corsair 512MB DDR400, and I turned the computer on and I got a blank screen with 4 beeps. Then I turned the computer off and removed the Kingston RAM and my computer gave me three beeps with a blank screen. I then waited a while, turned my computer on with just the original Corsair RAM, and the screen came to "CMOS checksum error... Defaults loaded."
uhhhhhhh??? I thought that a CMOS checksum error was a bad CMOS battery? Could me putting the new RAM be connected to the problem? Is there a jumper setting I should adjust?? My mobo is a SOLTEK KT-880E-GR thanks very much for the help |

its possible that your motherboard has reset itself due to an error. i used to get a checksum error when my old system would screw up but it was fine once i'd been into the bios and loaded up the settings.
if your system is heavily overclocked i would have thought the new stick of ram may not be able to go as far as your current stick and knocked your overclock down. try the new stick on its own though as the new stick might be faulty and giving you problems. i'm not aware of what the beeps mean as i haven't had to look them up in a while but it might have been because the ram wasn't inserted properly
