Default DVD playing issues

Hi everyone-

I have a LITE-ON SOHW812 DVD-RW and I cannot play certain DVD movies in the drive. Such movies as "the forgotten" and "the great raid." I have the most updated firmware. I open up my computer the the DVD player does not have a little DVD icon on it with the movie title. I have Win Media player and PowerDVD to play movies w/ XP Pro w/ SP2.

Would a newer DVD burner cure my problems?
Anybody have any ideas??

Thanks!

shouldn't be a burner issue, I would suggest downloading codecs and double-checking that you have your region set. It's possible that the computer will never play them, this is more likely if it's only a handful that don't work, I guess somewhere along the lines of trying to keep movies from being copied, companies make them so they can't be played with everything either. Maybe trying to find a really recently updated player would work

When I had problems playing some of my DVD's I downloaded a codec pack, and it fixed it. Link for Codec pack
