Default ram speed dilemma

hello, i have a hp zv5420, the specs are below

Microprocessor 3EGHz Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with HT Technology
Microprocessor Cache 1MB L2 Cache
Memory 512MB DDR SDRAM (2 x 256MB) at 333MHz
Memory Max 1280MB DDR SDRAM (1 x 256MB, 1 x 1024MB)
Video Graphics ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9000 IGP
Video Memory 128MB DDR (shared)
Hard Drive 60GB 4200 Hard Drive

i want to add 1024 mb, which will put me at a max of 1.25 gb.
my question is i am looking a ram with speeds of 533 mhz,
will this cause any problems using a different speed than the internal ram, the factory ram is 333 mhz. as well , will the computer be using the extra speed or will it still run at 333mhz. i have temporarily put a 512-400 mhz in and it seems stable.
I have been trying to play FEAR and it was freezing. this prompted me to look into ram.

thanks ryan
also , does anyone know how to find your FSB speed?
