Ok, so i built my rig a while ago over the summer and i kinda did it messy with cables all over the place and fans going in every which direction. I had a thermatake something hs with some 80mm fan on it and artic silver. Im running a pentium d 3.00ghz presHOT processor. My idel temp was like 60! So i reapplied the artic silver, and rearanged my fans so i had my intake on the bottom front and my exhaust on the top back. i put another 2 (intake and exhaust) on the side. The intake on side is lined up perfectly with my hsf. that brought me down to about 50. Then i had another impulse and rearannged my wires to give the best airflow and got all of them out of the way and pretty much like hid them in the nooks and cranys of my case. My idel is now 38 and im much happier

Hey. I did some fan rearrangement, and then it brought my idle down to 43-44 celcius. I was all happy and stuff, but a couple days later it would go from 47 idle (it went up) and then it would go up to like 60 and stay there, even though I hadnt used it for a few hours. Let me know if the temps stay that low.

i think what really makes a differenece is putting ur cpu fan to exhaust, at least in the long term. I dont no about you guys but my comp gets turned off about once a month. Since i used to have my cpu fan on intake it was always on and would draw dust into my HS. When i took it off (the fan) i cleaned out the heatsink and got amazing improvements. So try that and see if ur idel stays low...
Figured id throw this in here to show my tempss...
