Default Canon S330 with Dlink 704UP

I have a Canon S30 connected to the USB port of my Dlink 704UP router/print server. I have installed all software. My prints are working fine, but every time, the Canon software comes up saying "printer not responding", even though it is still printing.
Thus, i cannot see how much ink I have left due to this miscommunication.
How can I see how much ink I have left?

I would just take the printer and hook it up directly to your computer.

why do you have it wireless? i would just take it off the wireless router and hook it up to your computer and unistall and reinstall the printer software and you should be able to see how much ink is left.
