Arrow remeber that UT Mod i did.....

Remeber this.... http://computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=22070 well, its been my bench PC that i just fiddle with from time to time, it has Knoppix on it at the moment.

I'm getting board these days and need something to mod, my eyes quickly diverted their gaze to that UT case again, im hinking of cutting out the UT logo on the main side. If you see those pics (bad quality i know) but that side you can see in the pics is the side to be cut.

Cut it out so the hole is the shape of the logo, shove some red UV reactive perspex on the back of it and swap out my blue cathode for my UV one thats still in the box.

Basically i wanna know where the hell to get UV reactive red acryllkic sheets from, it needs to be 300x300mm (30cm square for those who cant count).

I think ive actually worn out googles server the amount of searches for "acrylic + plastic OR plex" etc.....

So this thread has dual meaning, one to alert you that a new mod (kinda) is on its way, and one to ask for you to find some damn acrylic sheets.

Thats another question open to you guys, ive got a Black&Decker Jigsaw which i can fit up with a metal blade, cut it up roughly then spend an extra 30 mins going over the edges with a metal file. then i was planning to respray that side of the case black to make it look a lot nicer.

Thanks jan, those sites have helped alot, im going with the KustomPC's one, its a bit cheaper then Vadim. Can you tell me if this item is semi transparent or is it a solid colour..... http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_2174.html

dremel
Im afraid "dremel" is something we lack over in the UK, there may be alternatives but that will cost, at the moment this whole mod is gonna cost £23.86 (roughly $40 US) so its not that bad, if i go and buy a cool tool like that thats gonna bump it up by like a nother £50 (roughly $100 US)

Thanks, dragon2309

*EDIT* - And yes there will be a worklog and it will be posted up here as well as on my personal server....

Default Hmm

I would have gone for the same one as you. It's intended for the side window, so I am positive that it is transparent. I am the one to blame if it is not .

Lol, im sure it will be fine, at the moment im preparing for my last exam.... (physics, god dammit im gonna fail).... so i wont be doing it anytime in the next week, also, im really stuck on what to cut the damn metal with, its 1mm steel, i know i can get metal cutting blades for my dads jigsaw but the logo is kinda curvy..... and im pretty sure those metal cutting blades wont go round corners too well......

And the acryllic, how am i gonna cut that, perhaps the jigsaw again but with a plastic cutting blade in it, it doesnt have to be exact shapes, just a rectangle could do......

Its really the metal thats got me stumped, for those of you in the US who are more prone to dremels, this is a typical jigsaw.....

and as you can see, you can get a lot of differnt blades for them

for acrylic, you will want a Dremel. It's a rotary tool

I recomend one with varriable speeds and also buy the flex tip adaptor

It's an investment now, but these things are so handy, it will pay for itself in no time. Besides, it's a tool. You always jump at the chance to buy another tool. Especially a power tool.
