Athlon64 2800+ 754 socket mobo 512 ddr 40gig case+psu His computer wont turn on, when he pushes the power button all he saw was the network card blinking. He plugged in the 20pin power connected correctly and also the little power cables from the case. any ideas?

firstly, make sure the motherboard isn't shorted out on the spacers, if there aren't any washers fitted i suggest that they be fitted.
then, check the front panel connections on the motherboard and make sure they plugged in correctly

He only has 4 risers on his mobo. All the front panel connecters are connected.

well, if you're feeling adventurous try using a screwdriver to short out the pins that the power switch connects to, if that works then the switch on the case is dead.
if possible i would try to get another psu to see if its the system or the power supply thats not working. also, have a look to see if anything like a screw has become trapped under the motherboard. if that doesn't work try removing all non essential items like the hard drives and cd rom drives to see if that allows the system to turn on. i think that there is either a psu problem or the motherboard is shortin out on something

doesnt it do some serious damage to the mobo if the 4 pin isnt plugged in? it seems pretty easy to overlook it, seeing as to how small it is and usually isnt located anywhere obvious.

it wont do any damage, it only means that the motherboard might not get enough power when overclocking. most of the time it will run fine but some motherboards are a bit wierd with not having it plugged in
