I have just bought a new DVD rom to play DVDs on my PC, however once I had connected it up (i.e. plugged in the IDE cables) it wasn't recognised. Worse still the CD re writer that was previously working didn't show either.
I unplugged the IDE cable and connected it only to the DVD rom, and it worked fine, the CD Rom also worked fine when connected by itself. It appears there is some sort of conflict between them, any ideas why this may be??? Thanks in advance for your help |

Well, my first thought is that the actual cable is dead, i simple snapped wire inside will stop the whole thing from working, the second thing that i thought of is the master/slave jumpers, you may be connecting a master drive on the slave channel and not changing the jumper setting, check it out before replacing anything.
