Is it worht it to pick up another 2GB of RAM (Run in another dual channel) [4gb total] or just stick with 2?
money is not really that much of a problem, but I've heard that when you have like 4gb of RAM, it actually starts to slow your computer down. Also, would it just heat things up more/use more voltages?? thanks

yes, it would heat things up, and depending on how ram intensive you get, it COULD start to slow down. its the same principle with L1, L2, and L3 cache in hdds...the more you have, the longer it takes to locate/store things. i would say stick with the two until you start to encounter problems related to a lack of RAM, which probably wont be a problem for a while.

you wouldnt notice a difference between 2 and 4gb. Besides, most motherboards downclock the ram speed to DDR333 if your using all the ram slots with double sided memory.

That's not a problem with the AMD Athlon 64 Venice/San Diego cores.

so should i just put the money towards the new video cards coming out in a little while?
I mean, I just bought this whole system but i hate not haveing "the best" parts. I wouldnt really want a new cpu though, cause its too much money and then it would also be harder to sell the one i have. I can easilly sell my 7800gt to a friend/someone when i pick up the new xxxxseries.

2. Having more cache/ram does take longer to search through said cache/ram however that is several orders of magnitude faster than searching through ram/hdd so really, the net result is that things would be faster Quote:

if ur noticing a slow down with ur comp now, then get 4gbs. but i highly doubt u are having a problem with it being slow. take the money and buy maybe a raptor drive to put some game files on. or something new. i dont think u need 4gbs.
