Default Hard Drive Issues

I brought a 160 IDE Hard Drive for christmas and to start off with it worked fine. But when I placed it into another computer, it doesnt work. The BIOS picks it up with the correct Cylinder numbers and that, but in My Computer there is no second hard drive. I have the correct jumper settings, I have tried formatting it but it says it cannot read or write the Hard Drive. Some help please.

if goback is installed on that drive then the OS won't read that drive. you would have to uninstall goback first.

I cant uninstall anything because I can't connect to the drive at all. I have also tried putting it in another PC with a different OS but that still doesnt work. And also what it goback? So I'm guessing since I dont know what it is that it isnt on the drive.

98/ME won't detect NTFS partitions. You're not going to be able to read that HDD on a 98 system. If you don't mind deleting all the data on it (and it doesn't sound like you do, given that you want to format it), load up a W98 boot disk and run FDISK. Delete that NTFS partition then recreate it (the bootdisk will recreate it as a FAT32). You can then format and use it.

I've done what you said but it says: "No partitions to delete", then I tried setting an active partition and it said "Only partitions on Drive 1 can be made active", THEN I tried creating a Primary DOS Partition and it has Verifying Drive Intergrity and that stays on 0%. I let that run for a couple of hours then it said No Space To Create A DOS Partition. And Ceewi1 why the hell do u need 570GB?

Just a bit more information which might make a difference I'm not sure but the Master drive is on a different IDE cord than the Slave one which isnt working. Also the Slave drive is on the same IDE cable as my DVD Burner and the DVD Burner doesn't work once I have connected the Slave drive on that channel. The CMOS picks up bothe the DVD Burner and the Secondary drive but do not show up in My Computer.
