Hey guys,

I would like to hear from you regarding this build that my friend is putting together. What do you think of it?

Mobo: DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert - nForce4 SLI
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego BOX
RAM 2X Kingmax DIMM 512MB DDR 433MHz CL2.5
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3200826AS - 200GB SATA NCQ
HDD2: Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 ST3300831AS - 300GB SATA NCQ
Graphix: Sapphire Atlantis ATI Radeon X1600XT 256MB, PCI-E
Soundcard: Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4
Case: Thermaltake Dream Tower Soprano VB1000SNS
PSU: Enermax Liberty EL500AWT 500W

Looks good though it could do with a tad more ram. But i'm nitpicking

1. Mobo. Make sure the mobo works with the case's airflow (i.e., the positioning of the DIMMs)
2. Screw the 3700, save your money and grab the 3500
3. Save your money on the SC and grab a Audigy2ZS

It will have a gig, why would it need anymore at this current time? Not any general software or applications use more than a gig..

thats not true. newer games can easily utlilize the power of having 2 gigs. bf2 can load much faster with 2 gigs over one.

id say get dual core or spend less on a single core proc.... and spend more on the video card. i dont like the look of the x1600xt.. get an x1800... or an x800 something

The x1600XT is a better choice than the X800!

Now as to answer the question, the PC will be used for general gaming needs, internet browsing and so on. The usual stuff we could say.
