Default is this true? (about opteron 165, dual core)

http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=63414
The people on this particular AMD forum, people are saying that opteron 165 is not only better than x2 3800,
but even "better" than fx-60,
which i don't agree to,
but i still want to hear some other ideas from you guys,,,

-by the way, yesterday i ordered my opteron 165 for $400 can.

Yes, if you OC you will run much faster than an X2 3800+. I just did my first OC today, just to 2.2GHz because I want to replace my heatsink/fan before I do any big OCing. With water cooling many have gotten 2.5-2.7GHz or so, at safe temps.

without water cooling, and with out raising the vcore many people have gotten 2.4 GHz out of their 3800+ X2 processors. i bet you can overclock an X2 just as well as an opteron, if you use the right hardware motherboard being most important.

Oh, didnt see the can part...

I need to pay closer atention to things before posting

The 165 is not better then an FX-60. Comparing stock processors to overclocked ones is like comparing apples and oranges. (Well not really but you get the point). It will need more volts and run hotter to reach 2.6 Ghz, and if it doesnt, then its reaching the point where more volts does less. The FX-60 also has unlocked multis. And of course, the FX-60 goes 2.6 Ghz out of the box.

1. Both the 165 and the FX60 are, stock.
2. The Opty's got an additional two HT links.. which ... ya know ... cant be a bad thing

your motherboard is a beast lol its a good overclocker and you wont need watercooling, but a nice heatsinkfan such as a thermaltake big typhoon, im sure that a popular one, there are others as well. good luck with your overclocking.
