Default stat or calc more difficult?

two different subjects, but which did you or do you find harder?

For most people, calc tends to be harder, I think. Plus, I still have a hang-up about "let's create a math area completly depending on imaginary, never can exist in the real world variables!!!!" (i.e. the square root of -1) WTF??? (that's what the frick )

Since statistics and calculus are different branches of mathematics, I think some people might have a greater aptitude for one over the other.

It is more likely that taking a statistics class will help you later on in life. Very few people actually use what they learn in a calculus class in real life....

I think derivatives and integrals are more difficult to learn than probabilities, frequency distributions and data sampling...

Default Hehe

I am very bad at math in general. I had problems with college algebra here at my uni. I then did calculus which I found easy and I am currently doing statistics. I believe calculus is harder than stats because more is covered and in general it is less logical.

Personally, I prefer calc, but everyone will have their own preference.

It seems pointless when it's first introduced, but it does have real world applications. For example, imaginary numbers are extremely usefuly when calculating currents and voltages through a (very real) electric circuit.

it depends on what you like. i dont really like stats, it just reminds me of random generating functions which make no sense. however calculus is nice cos the questions arent as wordy, just compute away. btw this year i havent done any stats, and i am taking the numerical analysis/pure route. you need understanding more than memory in stats/math.

yeah, i agree with the understanding more than memory, although i was under the impression that there were a lot of formulas and things of this nature to be remembered in stat.

and that's one thing i do like about calc is the lack of wordy problems... and another thing i dread about stat

I never took Stats, but I took Calc, I was alway's good in math, even started algabra in 7th grade, and then geometry in 8th, and was the only freshman in the Algbera 2 class I ebjoyed Calc and found is fun and not to hard, but math has always come easy to me(unlike english)and I never took stats.
