Default if you use an nvidia card, read and answer

under performance & quality settings, do you have your image settings set to high performance, performance, quality, or high quality? i'm trying to figure out if it's best to sarcrifice say 4xaa for 2xaa to go up to high quality.

Mine is just on 'Quality' which is default i think...but not sure what sort of advantage/disadvantage this would do by alerting these settings as i have never changed them...

Mine also is default (Quality) I have tried other settings in the past and Quality seemed to be the sweet spot.

with the card you have it doesn't really matter at the moment, i would go for quality just to avoid problems with some games. when i used high performance i had texture problems in san andreas

I know i dont have an nVidia card, but i have a similar thing on my ATI Card. I find it best to have it set to "Application preference".

Well that would be specifically for settings such as Antialiasing etc. Nvidia drivers allow for such settings as well. However those are not the settings he is referring too.

I never tweaked the settings for my 7800 before it broke... But typically, I just leave everything on performace/application preference.

depends on the game. yea, i have a 7800gt and i can run halo on maxed settings easily, of course thats halo. doom 3, handles it fine. quake 4 im sure it handles fine except my ram wont let it do ultra quality because i only have 1gb. just try, if it doesnt work then it'll start lagging. of course, im almost certain that it wont start lagging so you're good.

Hang on a minute... I just took a look on mine, and yes, it's set on 'Quality'. However, is this setting referring to the performance of the card or the image it produces?
