Thats what I did too but I just wanted to make sure that I haven't missed anything anywhere. Anyway, I have 1GB, DDR2 and P4 2.0ghz(478 socket) with some crappy PCChips motherboard. I guess I cannot get it to work without either buying new motherboard and CPU or buying memory 184 DIMM.hmm

Depends on how much money you have to play with and/or what you can sell

Of course I would rather use 240 DIMM get new board and CPU, graphics I dont care at this time. I can use whatever I have right now. That PC Chips board goes for around $12 on ebay haha and p4 2.0 probably not much more. My budget is around $150 - $200.

I know. I could probably go little higher on the budget but I'm still not sure if I should go with AMD or Intel. Do you know any good benchmarking web with comparison of various cpu's ?

cnet.com ... they recently had a dual-core battle, but that wouldn't really help. Just use Google... it's your friend

for good performance, that budget will get you one or the other. go with AMD, because they tend to be cheaper.
