Sorry if this thread is in the wrong forum, but I do not know where else to put it.
I recently had a new motherboard installed (Asus P4C800 Deluxe) After I had it installed, my computer has been randomly shutting off. It also requires me to hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn on. Is there any reason for this? Anyway to fix this? |

As for it shuting off, I would first unplug and replug each cable, (power and data), and reseat each card (vid, modem, memory, etc). This would ensure that nothing is loose.
As for requiring a push for start...maybe the connectors were applied incorrectly. Check with the person who installed it.

Check all the connections to your motherboard and make sure that none are loose... this is most likeyly not the problem because most of them (if not all) have clips. Check the PSU. What model is it? I had the exact same problem with my computer, but after about a month or 2 it just stopped. Never did understand why though...

I would have to agree if its not a wrong connection, it definately sounds like a bad PSU. If your using a generic PSU I would get a new one and go for a decent name, like Aspire they sell good PSU's and wont break your budget. If that don't work then I guess it could be something wrong with your mobo.

To determine if this is the case, get a hardware monitoring program like SPeedfan or MBM5 or something to log the temps and voltages
