Mp3 Player Wont charge or work on Computer

Hello I Baught this mp3 player and when i got it, it turned on and everything and it had some songs and i tried putting some on but my computer wont read it and my Os is windows XP and i even installed the drivers and stuff and it still wont read it i plug it in the USB and it wont read it , and then the battery died so i tried 2 recharge the batter on the charger and the Mp3 player wont charge but the Mp3 player still turns on for like 1 second and then shows a dead battery picture, So is it the USB cable or the Mp3 player ? or some other problem? Some one help me thanks!

seems like the battery isn't charuged enough. Try and jump start by flicking the power switch on and off. I did this with my zen xtra, and then it worked. Flick the power on the mains. Then it should charge, but dont charge it through the usb cable.
