we need the error code from the blue screen

what do other programs do when they are run ?
have you tried in safe, ,,,putting in the dvd ?

in windows explorer , go to tools , folder opts , file type ,,,,scroll down to the VOB file type ...see what is associated with opeing the vob files on your dvd, should be a dvd player.

Make sure all your drivers are up to date. That might be a factor in the problem.

I have updated all the drivers for my motherboard and also the firmware for the dvd rewriter. This DVD rewriter worked fine in my old pc. I put in an older DVD ROM drive BUT even that dont work when i try to play dvds..... I am thinking, could my motherboard be broken or something??

Whole cable into the secondary IDE port. Also, is there any other drives on the cable? try a different cable too.
