No sounds from the monitor

Hi,

I've just bought a new monitor - a Syncmaster 913v - which is fine in every respect aside from having no built-in speakers and, as such, no sounds.

Is there any way to connect up external speakers to it? There are only two connection ports on the back - one for the plug for the monitor and another which leads from the back of the monitor to the graphics card connection on the back of my computer. Nothing else. Ideally, I want to be able to connect an external speaker to the monitor. I've got some speakers that I used with a computer years ago but while I've been able to plug them into the back of my computer via the sound card port, there's nowhere to plug into on the monitor. As such, no sounds.

I'm pretty sure there ought to be a way to connect everything up so I can use the speakers to hear sounds through but I can't figure out what it is. Or is a monitor that lacks built in speakers and has no connection for speakers just never going to be able to produce sound no matter what?

Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question, but I'm happy with the monitor and don't want to have to get another one just so I can hear a few things.

If you can plug then into the soundcard, do that. Why do you want them conected to the monitor? Monitors w/o speakers are just monitors. I believe that monitors with speakers built-in also have connections that run to your soundcard, so you would end up connecting to the soundcard no matter what.

Ussaly, at least not anymore there arn;t any sound prots on the moniters. They are on the nack of your desktop tower, It is "possible" but unlikly that you dont have a sound card or built in sound into your motherboard.

1.You have a sound card, and jus plug the speakers into it on the abck of your desktop tower.

2.You dont have a sound card and you can buy one for less then 10$ and it is simple set up, pop up the side of your case and stick it into the PCI slot.

I do have the speakers plugged into the back of my computer tower now, but they're not producing any sound.

There are two sets of connections on my speakers. On my old computer, one set went into the back of the computer, the other into the back of the monitor. Only this monitor doesn't have anything in the back to connect to. I've tried plugging both of the speakers' connections into my soundcard but only set will fit. What do I do with the other set?

It sounds like you have veery adnormal speakers. It should work just fine coming from your computer. You may need to install SOUND CARD drivers for sound to work right. Try opening up your copmuter and look for the sopund card and find the model number, or if it is intergrated get your motherbord model. some prorgasm can tell this to you too if you do not want to open your case.
