Default suse linux help

Hi i have installed Suse Linux 10 in dual boot on my laptop. Ive clearly been using windows to long course i have some questions that might sound stupid . If anyone running Suse Linux 10 themself would pop by it would be great .
First according to Suses homepage AntiVir and SpamAssasin were to be included with the OS. Ive searched through the root folder, but i cant seem to find them.
And for installing software you need an compiler, but is a compiler included with the OS? Does Yast work like an compiler? Or would i have to install eg GCC? I havent really compiled programs like this from scratch before. My compiling experience is limited to compiling single documents of source code using Dev C++, so this seems a bit overwhelming. So last, my big problem is then, how do you install software on Linux? Ive searched the internet, but could only find help on installing Linux itself. Alot of install documentation tells you to write commands like: ./configure, make so on. That sounds like a breeze, but where do you write them? Any help to get me started would be deeply appreciated! Thank you!

Right, all the software is included on the OS just they are optional packages you need to go into YaST and look for all the software you want. and AntiVir and SpamAssasin should be on there.
Right to install software on linux....
