Default Does it requier CUP or RAM to run a hard drive?

like the title says. does it need any system resource (RAM or CUP) to run an Slave drive? (it is a storge drive only)
I just go an Maxtor 200GB hard drive and installed it.

I think i will put my next quetions here too.

afther i install the 200GB hard drive. the software that come with the maxtor (the one that used to format the hard drive.) says that the hard drive has 203. something GB. but when i click on my computer the hard drive is only 189GB.
is that normal? or do i need to do something inorder to get the full 200GB.

P.S. i have XP SP2 so there should not be a problem with hard drive that are bigger than 137GB.

thanks in advance

Default You Are Fine...

After formatting the harddisk, you never have the amount that you had without formatting it. For example I have a 80gig disk, which after format shows 77gigs instead of 80. This is perfectly normal.
