Default Are CRTs really better for games than LCDs???

Hey guyz, I just got the rumour that CRTs are better off than LCDs for games. Is this any how true? Is it possibly because of its 'faster' response time or anything related to it? Or is it simply because they provide you with a clearer image? I don't get this at all...

Faster responce time. Dot pitch is suppose to be better in most of them I beleive. I'm very happy with my LCD, but I'm not a MAJOR gammer.

Anyther problem with LCDs, you must run them at the native resolution or they get blurry...

Also greater colour accuracy, contrast levels and viewing angle. You can also use them at any resolution without blurring. Just as important is the price. CRTs are much cheaper than LCDs, particularly with larger monitors.

I've used both, and personally prefer a CRT. Modern LCDs are great too, as long as you run them at the native resolution, and look for something with a reasonable response time (i.e. not the cheapest LCD you can find!)

1. CRTs give better color.
2. CRTs have a much crisper display

Agreed however with some of the much more professional CRTs, they can get pretty freaking expesnvie too!

If you're getting a current generation LCD make sure its got some form of antiglare thingy .... ones without it really show it when there are ambient light sources

I use a CRT myself, but here are a few reasons why i would choose a LCD over a CRT:

1. Smaller
2. Doesnt need as much power
3. They look better

I find that some LCD's are brighter and have a higher contrast, but besides that i think CRT's are better.

I don't mind CRTs but they are freaking huge. I had a 21" CRT and it took up half of my desk, I bought a Hyundai LCD(which works VERY well) and it's easier on the eyes, saves space, and looks great with games and whatever else I do on the computer.

I'd say if you get a model with a response time of 8ms or less, you're better off with LCD. I changed my 21" CRT for an 8ms 19" LCD - much nicer

Yes and No... More yes then no .

LCD's are now at the point where they are competition for CRT's. They have a great display that is fast and "Extremely crisp/sharp".. It is easy to buy a CRT as all are pretty nice and good for gaming but it takes a bit of research as there are allot of crap LCD's out there.

I'm a big gamer and loved my CRT's for many years but now that LCD's are fast and Sharp I'll never buy another CRT again. My LCD is far from perfect (there is back light in the darkest of darks and contrast is a low 550:1) but textures and images seem to POP! and the image I see is much more sharp then I have experienced before. Being such a CRT fanatic for many years I can quickly see the problems my LCD has but as I said I'll never go back .

Point is buy an LCD for gaming they are awesome. First however do your research because as I've said they take a little more know how then CRT's. LCD's take up little space where CRT's take up a large amount (even for smaller screens). I will finish with... CRT's really are the superior gaming choice for many reasons that I'm sure have been covered by those posted before me . If I've contradicted myself it is because I know that CRT's have more going for them for gaming but I prefer My LCD. My 3 year old CRT is in a box.
