Is there a small fan on your motherboard (Chipset fan)?

locate the small fans in the case, they are most likely the culprits. Stop each until it stops and then replace the fan.

most good motherboards have a fan...
just look for something moving and spinning.

that is probably the hard drive spinning, and loading stuff, i would say it has nothing to do with the noise you hear the other times

thats why i asked if there was one, and most older boards just have a heatsink.

Another thing that might be the culprit is the PSU or videocard
