Default Building a Computer

Hello everyone, I'm new here as you can see, and I was wondering if you would be able to help me. I'm building a computer and was wondering what combinations of hardware would be the best. This all started when I was unable to play City of Villians because my computer was outdated, and now I'm confused of all the different motherboards, video cards, and ram. Please help. Dan

Default Budget

my budget isn't much, but I plan on buying piece by piece, like motherboard one week processor next.

As far as games any really I'm into just about everything, but i want a set up that will take me farther than just one or two games, i'm looking towards the future not just for one game.

"My budget isn't much" can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. To be able to play future games probably look at no less than 550ish. How's that for a price?

That budget will be tight and it won't be blazing fast but I've seen it done.

EDIT:
Athlon 64 3200
Chaintech VNF4
Gigabyte 6800GS
Hitaachi 7K80
PQI Power 1GB
AOpen DVDRW

That's about 575 without a case or PSU. You can actually find better deals on some of those parts using froogle, so the final product would be from 575-600. Some of those parts are pretty cheap though, the motherboard stands out as probably the worst part of that.

well i'm sure that i will spend more than that i'm not lookin to get it up and running in the next week. I would like a computer that will not only do well for gaming, but also for designing games and programming, i'm lookin for something to get me through the years i'm currently in Digital Entertainment and Game Designing at the ITT tech near me, so i would like something for school work and designing my own games later.

What video card do you recomend?
