Default Please help....

I just put together a computer... Here are the parts that I got...

Asus P5WD2 LGA775/955X/DC/SATA2/2GBE Motherboard

Pentium Processor D 2.8

memory ram - DDR2-800

Creative X-Fi Platinum Soundcard

Palit GeForce 6600 LE 256Mb

MDT White Label 200GB 7200RPM EIDE Hard Drive Ultra ATA/100

There is one problem though... when I start up the computer, I see the screen that allows one to press delete to enter bios setup... well.. the screen just stays there... and won't go any further..... any one got any opinions... please let me know... truly appreciated....

Well drop down to bare bones: CPU, mono, one memory stick, PSU and videocard
- did you connect all the power cables?
- try hardsetting the cmos?

Yeah... I tried both of that... I dunno, sometimes it will go one screen further, to show that it is detecting keyboard, mouse,... and then when it gets to the line that says "auto-detecting Master - IDE Drive..." it just stops.. and the screens stays that way.......

My guess would be you dont have the Hard drive on the proper setting, Is it set as master slave or what, any others on the cable ?

It will hang for a long time if the jumper is set incorrect.

Agreed although i think from the context of post1 we can safely assume the HDD isnt an issue ... also eliminated that possibility in post2 if he's running in troubleshooting mode
