I would go with DFI motherboards they are really great. They give you all you need and more..

Well it shoudlnt come as a surprise to you that things will change
Since you dont have a zillion dollars, its prolly a good thing because the new socket coming out for AMD will be on the expensive side of things i would imagine ![]() A thing about LCDs and gaming: - LCDs have what is called a native resolution and any resolution other than that will make the image look like crap. For the LCD you've chosen, the resolution is 1440x900 - Now a logical progression would indicate that when playing games, if you use any resolution other than 1440x900, the image quality will suffer. There are two issues with this [1] Games dont often support "wierd" resolutions like 1440x900 (thank goodness )[2] Even if they did, 1440x900 is a fairly high resolution, which means your videocard is going to need to be able to power its way through the game at that resolution .. now whether or not the one you originally picked is up to the task or not, i dont know Here's an alternative -Buffalo Major 2x512 CL2.5 ($71.95) Viewsonic VA1912WB 19" 1440x900 500:1 8ms ($299.99 after $50.00 MIR) eVGA 7800GT 256MB + SLI Mobo ($329.99 after $20.00 MIR) AMD Athlon64 3200 [Venice(DH-E3), S939, ADA3200DAA4BP] ($164.00) Hitatchi 80GB 8MB SATA3.0 ($53.00) NEC 3550A DVDRW ($39.75) Logisys Area51 Case + 450W [12V@25A] ($37.50) Subtotal: $996.18 Add $100 to the budget or so and you can get a dualcore rig.

so this budget, the 1000$, do you need a monitor with it? if you do that would be tough. otherwise, you can build a pretty good rig for 1k

Yes, the 3200+ will bottleneck the 7800GTX but then again, even the 4000+ will.
