Default My Concern

When I get my new parts for my PC, it will include a motherboard, which means that I will have to re-install windows. Well, since I first bought my PC from iBuyPower, they only gave me the recovery CD and my CD Key for XP. When I re-install windows, will I be able to re-install it with just the recovery CD, and not have to install it twice on the same hdd (once from now, once from when I re-install it)??? This is the part of it which makes me uneasy...

That's a very good question. It really depends on how your recovery cd checks to see if it's the computer you bought or not.

Are you staying on the same architecture?

I hope I understood you right, those last 2 sentences were a bit confusing.

Skidude, if your company is anything like the one we got ours from (cyber power systems), then the recovery CD is just an Original Windows XP CD, except theres a different sticker and they customized the installation a little bit. I used that CD on my computer as well as the family computer, and they work just fine.

And are you telling me that you've never re-installed windows since you got your PC?!?

No I have not re-installed Windows since I got my PC... which was like 6 months ago. There really was no need to. And Cyberpower and iBuypower are extremely closely related so I think that is what they did, just stuck their logo on the CD and called it a recovery CD.

Oh, i thought you had it longer then that.

is your "recovery CD" white, with a bunch of text that also sayd "iBuyPower" on it? Also, does your computer have a seperate smaller partition on it?

No my PC only has one partition which takes up my whole hard drive, or so says my disk managment thing. My recovery CD is silver and shiny, with the iBuypower logo on it, and it says "I series recovery CD-ROM" and it gives the whole thing about this is only for distribution with an ibuypower computer, and so on.

I would contact them if it doesn't work, because you purchased that windows copy and it is a total rip off if you cant reinstall it.

Well like I said I have the serial number and everything so they cant accuse me of pirating it.
