Okay, So as i said in the thread i made in the off topic a while ago, that i had three copyed of one game, 2 were badly scrached, i thought all three were so i ordered 2 copys, i ment to order noe but i got to by acedent lol but anyways, I found home's for the two new ones at 5$ a peice so i was at a los of only about 5$ after, here's my question, I want to give a copy to my friend, but i only have one working CD, 1.Is it legal for me to burn the working one and give it to him and then give him a VALID CD KEY from one of my scrached up disks? So it would just be replacing the scrached one then giving him the whole thing.
also how would i go about doing it so it reads the disk okay? I would think it would be fine since i actully purshaced the copys and i just need something instead of the scrached CDs that don't work game is battlezone 2 made in '98 |

So basicaly your sayingyou have 2 copies of the game left?
I would say it wouldntnot be illeagle to give him a copy aslong as heusesthe CD key you dont. I mean burn a copy of yours and give him the scratched copy. That way all you have done is createa back up disk of a game he now owns, and as far as I know there is nothing illeagle in that. Problem is when copying the game there may be copry protection that will not allow a copy.

How would I go about burning it so it works installs and plays okay? I tryed doing itonce and when you try to play, you use the CD to autorun and then you click on play game and it says please insert the game to disk drive, when its obvoisly ther since thats how it autoran, but it works fine with the original disk, what would be the best way to burn it?

Did you try making an image of the game cd, then burning that image onto a CD-R?

The easiest way would probably be to just copy the game using nero or some other program, and download a no-cd patch. Other than that, try using CloneCD or Alcohol 120%. I believe that both programs have free trial versions.

you are paying for the LICENSE KEY, as long as you are giving the license key away, and not writing it down or anything it should be legal.
