Computer restarts when synchronizing PDA while on internet

As the title states, my computer will restart (actually, gives me a non-recoverable BSOD now, since I turned off restart on error) whenever I try to hotsync my Sony Clie PEG-SJ30 and the computer is connected to the internet.

There may also be an issue if another user is logged in, but I haven't verified that.

This happens with the original Hotsync provided by Sony as well as the latest iteration of Hotsync Manager 4.1.0 on Win XP Pro. I have encountered this problem with multiple USB sync cables, on two different machines, one with a fresh install of XP Pro. I have the problem with three different PDAs, doesn't matter whether the internet connection is through dialup or DSL (PPoE).

Has anyone else run into this problem?
