Default Problem with newly installed sound card

I just installed a new 5.1 sound card. After I installed the card and booted up my system, Windows XP installed a driver and the sound card seemed to work fine. The only problem is that I cannot use the Creative software to control the sound output when I use the Windows driver. When I install the Creative driver, the sound card does not seem to work at all. I ran through Windows troubleshooting to make sure the card is set at default and is working properly, and it is. Does anyone have any ideas? It is a SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 card w/ LiveDrive. TIA

you should first uninstall the windows driver and then download the newest drivers from the creative website and install those

uninstall the driver. go into device manager and delete the driver.

then restart, this time around, install from a CD rom drive if you are going through the wizard and let it install through the driver supplied by you from creative.
