Not to be shitty, but if someone replies to this, and ignores my (urgent), same-topic thread, I'm going to act like a twelve year old.

1. If you posted in a more appropriate section, it would get dealt with faster.
2. Thread hijacking isnt nice ![]() 3. Nice mobo but you're gonna be uberlimited by the CPU. Consider upping the CPU to at least the 2.80GHz (if its a P4C) and 3.0 (if its a P4E). Now noting that you want to use it for video editing ... you might want to try and squeeze 1GB of RAM in there

Whats the differance between the 2.8C and teh 2.8E? since i can get the E cheaper than the C??? (just wondering even though im thinking i will go with the 3.0E)
I'm trying to keep my budget at or under $1000-$1200 CAD So far this is how i refined the system Case - Same as above Power supply - Same as above Mobo - Same as above CPU - Intel Pentium 4/ 3.0E GHz 800MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache, Hyper Threading Technology - Retail Ram - Kingston 512MB DDR PC3200, Non-ECC, un Bufferd, 3-3-3 (twin sticks 1gb total) HDD - Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive, Model WD800JD, OEM Drive Only (will add more storage space later on when it fits the budget) Video - Same as above CD Drive - ASUS 52x32x52 IDE Internal CD-RW Drive, Model CRW-5232AS, OEM Black Bulk (will get the dvd burner later when a good one will ft the budget) all this added up in american $$ is about $850 leaving $50 for misc parts (prices from newegg) anyways still look ok or was the old list better? Thanks again Joe and to Jkun: "I'm going to act like a 12 year old." ??? i mean to start no wars or flame threads but i found that little post to be quite distasteful and much like somthing i woulds expect from a young teen not a young adult like yourself. posting like that would only encourage me to skip your post not to hurry to post in it. anyways later all |

Pentium 4 - Willamette
Designation: P4-<clk> (where clk is the clock speed of the proc) Speeds: 1.30GHz -- 2.00 GHz Bus/FSB: 100MHz (400QDR) L2 Cache: 256K Process: 0.18 Interface: Socket 423 (initially) and Socket 478 (later) Pipecount: 20 Status: Discontinued Pentium 4 - NorthwoodA Designation: P4A-<clk> or P4-<clk>A (where clk is the clock speed of the proc) Speeds: 1.60GHz -- 2.60 GHz Bus/FSB: 100MHz (400QDR) L2 Cache: 512K Process: 0.13 Interface: Socket 478 Pipecount: 20 Status: Discontinued Pentium 4 - NorthwoodB Designation: P4B-<clk> or P4-<clk>B (where clk is the clock speed of the proc) Speeds: 2.23GHz -- 3.06 GHz Bus/FSB: 133MHz (533QDR) L2 Cache: 512K Process: 0.13 Interface: Socket 478 Pipecount: 20 Status: Obsolete Pentium 4 - NorthwoodC Designation: P4C-<clk> or P4-<clk>C (where clk is the clock speed of the proc) Speeds: 2.40GHz -- 3.40 GHz Bus/FSB: 200MHz (800QDR) L2 Cache: 512K Process: 0.13 Interface: Socket 478 Pipecount: 20 Status: Current Pentium 4 - Prescott Designation: P4E-<clk> or P4-<clk>E (where clk is the clock speed of the proc) Speeds: 2.80GHz -- 3.60 GHz Bus/FSB: 200MHz (800QDR) L2 Cache: 1024K Process: 0.09 Interface: Socket 478 and Socket 775 Pipecount: 30 Status: Current The significant difference between the P4C and the P4E is the fact that the P4E has a much longer pipeline and this has two results: (a) the longer pipecount allows the clock speeds to be scaled much higher and (b) each clock cycle becomes significantly less efficient. What this means is that comparing a P4C-3.0 and P4E-3.0 ... the NorthwoodC will win. We've seen the same thing happen between the P3-1.30Ghz and the P4-1.30 ... the Pentium3 chip won (and we've seen this approach used by AMD since damn near forever). For reference, the P3 had a 10 stage pipeline, the AthlonXPs, 15 and the Athlon64s, 17. Quote:
