Default dell latitude wont boot, password

Hi, i bought this laptop from my boss and he gave me some spare parts with it. including this 60gig hdd for it, it is currently running on this 3.2gig. i would like to use the 60gig and install a new copy of XP pro on it. BUT.....
When i put the HDD in it says there is a password on it and can't boot. i tried F2 to get to bios but it won't allow that either. is this HDD trash? surely there is a way around this.
any tips or tricks?

thanks, Howard

Hopefully its set to boot of CD-ROM first...Have you tried putting your xp disk in and see if it loads? If it does you can format from there. Other than that cant you just boot of the 3.2gig hard drive then format the other drive like you would any other volume in windows?

well i can boot up and run fine with the 3.2gig, but if i insert the 60gig it wont let me get to bios or anything before it kicks up the "enter password" screen.

i changed the boot order with the 3.2gig. boot to CD first put in the 60gig then tried win XP cd. didn't work. then went back put it boot to floppy first, put 60gig back in and tried it with a floppy boot, i tried a program called KillDisk ?
even that won't kick in before the password.

if there was a way to set it up as a secondary i would think you could Fdisk it huh? not sure how you can do that in a laptop though??
not sure what step to take next?

Ohh it is a laptop... My bad... Have you tried asking your boss for the PW? Or trying the basic pw? Admin Adminsitrator pass password... etc... You never know. Or just blank!

he got the HDD from someplace, he likes to get old pawn shop crap and try to get it going. wel we got the 3.2gig to work but the 60gig won't. i did try, Admin, administration, blank, 12345 , 1234, 00000, Dell, latitude,

also i was looking at this adapter on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Laptop-2-5-to-ID...QQcmdZViewItem

thought if i can get it as slave on my desktop maybe i can Fdisk right through windows?
